3 Men Shot on Route 50 in Prince George's County: Police

Three men are injured after a shooting on Route 50 in Prince George's County, police say.

Someone opened fire on a car about 3 p.m. Thursday on Rt. 50 between Kenilworth Ave. and Columbia Park Rd., Maryland State Police said.

Prince George's County police said three men inside the car were shot. They were taken to a hospital and appear to have non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Multiple bullets punched holes in the car and shell casings were scattered across the road.

"It's extensive. We have shell casings for a good distance and then we're going to go back very far and try to recover as much as we can," said Prince George's County Police Officer Tyler Hunter.

Three people have been shot on Route 50 between Kenilworth Avenue and Columbia Park Road. This portion of the highway is backed up. NBC4’s Tracee Wilkins has the story.

The eastbound lanes of Rt. 50 between Rt. 201 and Columbia Parkway Rd. were closed as police investigated the shooting. One westbound lane was open. All police activity has since cleared and traffic is back to normal.
