3 Metro Workers Forced to Avoid Oncoming Train

Metro is trying to determine why a train was driven through a work area, forcing three workers to get out of the way.

Metro spokeswoman Sherry Ly says no one was hurt when the train entered the work area on Thursday near the Eisenhower Avenue station in Alexandria.

She says the rail traffic controller assigned to the area and other workers have been pulled off the job to be interviewed by investigators.

Metro has also notified the Federal Transit Administration of the near-miss. The federal body is the safety oversight panel for Metro.

Last October, a train nearly hit two federal inspectors near Reagan National Airport.
