Capital Beltway's Inner Loop Reopens After Fuel, Antifreeze Spill

All lane of the Inner Loop between the American Legion Bridge and River Road in Bethesda have reopened, but drivers should expect residual delays.

Three of four lanes were shut down late Tuesday afternoon due to a tractor-trailer that leaked fuel and antifreeze onto the highway.

The tractor-trailer was disabled in the middle lanes of the Inner Loop, where it created a 100-foot oil slick on the roadway, said Montgomery County Fire spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Hazmat units and sand trucks were called to the scene to clean up the spill, and a tow truck was called to remove the disabled vehicle.

There's no word on what caused the spill.
