3 in Va. Face Charges Linked to Children's Tattoos

Three people in Campbell County, Va., are facing charges stemming from the tattooing of two children under the age of 13.

According to the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, Alexander Edwards is accused of tattooing the children in December without their consent or the consent of their parents.

The News & Advance reports that the children's mother, 35-year-old Melissa Delp, and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Daniel Janney, attempted to remove the tattoos, leaving the children with scars.

Delp and Janney each face two counts of malicious wounding and felony child abuse.

Edwards, a family friend, was taking care of the children Dec. 22 when they were tattooed, reported the News & Advance. He is facing two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of abduction and two counts of felony child abuse.

A juvenile and domestic relations judge certified the charge against Delp and Janney, sending the case to a grand jury. Edwards is scheduled to appear in court on May 12.
