ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Rescue crews went to the 2900 block of Commonwealth Avenue in Alexandria because of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Eight people were evaluated at the scene, and three of those -- two adults and an infant -- were taken to a local hospital.
A family reported the carbon monoxide to the fire department after waking up and feeling strange. Had they slept any longer they might not have woken at all, authorities said.
