3 Charged in Death of 17-Year-Old Maryland Boy

Two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old have been charged in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy in Laurel, Maryland, police announced Tuesday.

Kalik Johnson, 18, of Laurel, Kylah Nettleton, 18, of Severn, and Darius Tarik Johnson, 17, of Upper Marlboro, have been charged in the death of Dustin Khoury.

Khoury was shot July 18 while inside a car on the 3000 block of Contee Road. He died at a hospital a short time later.

His father, Michael Khoury, said the family buried the 17-year-old on Monday. They were grieving together when they learned of the arrests.

"I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for their families, who have to endure a lot of pain, like we did," Michael Khoury said.

Dustin Khoury was a "special kid," his father said.

"Everybody loved him. He'd help anybody, anything you'd ask of him. He was so dependable," Michael Khoury said.

Police said the suspects and victim were in the middle of an illegal transaction when Dustin Khoury was shot. No additional details on that transaction were released immediately.

All three suspects were charged with first- and second-degree murder. Darius Johnson is being charged as an adult.

Dustin Khoury would have been a senior at Meade Senior High School in the fall.

"He had lots of hopes," his father said. "He wanted to go to college."

Dustin Khoury is the 14th homicide victim in Prince George's County this month.
