3 Stabbed Near Arlington Park; Suspect Charged

A 40-year-old man is accused of stabbing three people in a popular Arlington park Tuesday night.

Arlington County Police said they rushed to a park on Lee Highway at the intersection of North Lynn Street near Gateway Park and the Key Bridge about 9:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

There, they found two victims in serious condition with lacerations, and found a man with minor injuries. All were taken to a hospital.

Arlington County Police said the suspect, Wondwossen Kassu, was taken into custody. They didn't detail a possible motive.

Kassu apparently approached the first two victims, who were sitting at a table inside the Rosslyn park, started a conversation, pulled out a knife and stabbed them.

The third victim was walking in the area when he saw the stabbing and Kassu turned to him and stabbed him also, police said.

Kassu was charged with three counts of Unlawful Wounding in the Commission of a Felony and three counts of Malicious Wounding.
