3 Shotguns, Ammo Found on School Property

A search for alcohol on the campus of a Harwood, Md., high school instead found three shotguns Thursday morning, police said.

A Southern High School student’s car was searched after he was identified as the student in possession of alcohol on school property Wednesday, police said. The shotguns were not loaded, but ammunition for the guns was found, as was a hunting knife.

An investigation revealed the 17-year-old student and a friend recently went shooting on a farm, and the student did not remove the guns and ammunition afterward, police said. There’s no evidence of any threats.

The 17-year-old was charged as a juvenile with possession of a deadly weapon on school property.
