A jackknifed tractor trailer sat on the Beltway's inner loop for several hours Thursday after a broken axle made it difficult to remove.
Maryland State Police say the tractor trailer was involved in an accident near Old Georgetown Road late Wednesday night. The tractor trailer's axle broke and the floor of the trailer cracked and separated, making removal from the scene more difficult.
Three lanes of the inner loop were closed for a portion of the morning commute. A welder was called to the scene to dismantle the rig.
No injuries were reported.
