3 Arrested After Wild Police Chase

The driver of a Ford Explorer allegedly hit a deputy's arm with his driver's side mirror and then ran into his patrol car, according to police

Three men were arrested after leading police on a chase that started on Germanna Highway around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the Culpeper Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say as a deputy approached the 1996 Ford Explorer, the driver put the vehicle in reverse and allegedly hit the deputy's arm with the driver's side mirror.

The deputy ordered the driver, who has been identified as David Lee Story Jr., to stop the vehicle, but say instead he pulled forward and reversed again, hitting the deputy's patrol car, authorities said.

The officer pulled his gun and ordered the truck to stop, but he drove off, according to the sheriff's office.

Two passengers, identified as Bradley Thomas Settle and Zu Yan Zhang, were inside the Ford, according to authorities.

The chase, which started on Germanna Highway, led officers to Carrico Mills Road, then to Alanthus Road, and James Madison Highway. The chase ended after the Ford turned on Auburn Road and went into a ditch.

Story was arrested after a foot chase, and now faces a long list of charges, including felony assault of an officer, hit-and-run, and DUI. He's currently being held at the Culpeper County Jail.

Settle and Zhang, the passengers, stayed with the truck. They were arrested and charged with being drunk in public. They have both been released.
