52-year-old Herndon man killed in jewelry store armed robbery

Police in Arlington County are investigating a fatal armed robbery of a jewelry store.

Investigators say the robbery happened in the 3200 block of Columbia Pike at around 4 p.m, when a man wearing a neon green traffic vest was caught entering the store by a surveillance camera.

Police say that the 52-year-old Herndon man was found dead in the store at around midnight. The man had been reported missing by his family after he failed to return home from his regular shift at the jewelery store.

This is the second fatal shooting in Arlington County this week. On Thursday, police ruled that a married couple had died as the result of a murder-suicide.

The investigation into this case is ongoing. The suspect in the case is described as a man in his 50s, standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build.
