Fares Going Up For Anacostia Riders

Lower Metro fares in Anacostia will be phased out next week.

Metro announced in a press release that the cost of riding a bus in Anacostia will increase on September 25.

Riders in Anacostia have been enjoying a discounted rate.  The new rate schedule "will be adjusted to be consistent with Metrobus fares elsewhere on the system."

From the press release:

Effective September 25, fares will change from $1 to $1.50 for SmarTrip customers and $1.70 for cash-paying customers on routes 94, A2, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, M8, M9, W2, W3, W6, W8 as well as for stops at or south of Good Hope Road on routes 90, B2, P1, P2, P6 and U2.  Customers who transfer between bus and rail will not notice a fare change, because the SmarTrip discount for customers transferring at Anacostia or Congress Heights stations will increase from 50¢ to $1.
