Two men were fatally shot within hours of each other in Southeast Washington Monday.
Officers were called to the 2300 block of Hartford Street SE at 5:39 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found 34-year-old Darnell Antonio Mayfield suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He died from his injuries at an area hospital.
Nearly three hours later, police responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Savannah Street SE. They found 31-year-old Kevin Dennis Prater, who had no fixed address, dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made in either case.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for any information that can lead to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.
