Police identified the couple found dead inside a Chantilly home Wednesday morning as ATF agent Paul Parisi, 46, and his wife, Jannine Parisi, 47.
Two teen girls inside the home at the time heard the gunshots and fled to a nearby home in the 13400 block of Point Pleasant Drive, where someone called 911.
When officers arrived at the Parisis' home, they found the bodies of the couple inside.
Police say the shooting appears to be domestic in nature and there is no threat to the public. However, they have not said whether the incident is a murder-suicide.
Paul Parisi had worked for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms since 1993, as a special agent assigned to the Washington Field Division in the arson and explosives group.
ATF Special Agent in Charge Carl Vasilko released the following statement Wednesday afternoon: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members who have suffered a tremendous loss today. We request that the family’s privacy be respected so that they can grieve in private.”
Jannine Parisi had worked as a health and physical education teacher at Franklin Middle School since 2005. The school's principal, Sharon Eisenberg, sent a note home to parents regarding Parisi's passing.

"Today has been a very emotional day at Franklin as we learned of this tragedy. An FCPS Crisis Team and our counselors are available to support staff and students. Please feel free to contact the school if there are any needs that arise with you or your children regarding this news. Our thoughts are with Jannine's family and friends during this extremely difficult time," Eisenberg wrote.
"It's a little shocking to think it happened right around the corner," said neighbor Bob Young. "It's pretty tough. Hopefully the kids are OK. I'm not sure what's going on in the house."
News4 Northern Virginia Bureau reporter David Culver spoke with the Young family before they headed off to work and school. They live just a few doors down.
Victoria Young said the family that lived inside the home now blocked off by crime tape was much like her own: a mom, a dad and two daughters.
"My girls played basketball with their youngest daughter," said Victoria Young.
