2 Adults, Child Hit By Car Near NW Bus Stop

Two adults and a child were hit by a car while standing near a bus stop in northwest Washington.

The 79-year-old driver of a Toyota lost control of the vehicle about noon Tuesday in the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue near Butternut Street, just south of the old Walter Reed Medical Center, police said.

It jumped the curb, ran over a newspaper rack and garbage container, then slammed into the victims, police said. One of the adults landed on the car’s windshield and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Two shoes and other personal items were scattered over the scene.
