Moms Accused of Leaving Kids in Northern Va. Hotel Rooms Alone

Two mothers are facing child neglect charges after leaving their children alone in Northern Virginia hotel rooms.

Lynn Ann Allen was indicted in Loudoun County recently on two felony counts of child neglect. She was arrested twice in recent months for leaving her 7-year-old and 11-year-old kids alone in a room alone at the Sterling Extended Stay America hotel.

According to court documents, a detective reported Allen's 7-year-old son called for help when he was left alone for two days in a hotel room, with Sierra Mist and a bag of Cheetos. Allen bonded out of jail this week.

In Prince William County Thursday, Tia LaSharma Parker allegedly left her 2-year-old girl in a room at the Value Place Hotel in Manassas.

"Evidently, housekeeping went to a room to do their normal cleaning and discovered a 2-year-old baby girl left in a playpen and no one around," Sgt. Kim Chinn with Prince William County Police said.

Police said Parker had been gone for at least an hour and was later charged with misdemeanor child neglect. Officers later retrieved a substance believed to be marijuana from her car.

"[Her daughter] appeared to be healthy and well-cared for and I guess social services decided it was OK to leave her there with the mother," Chinn said.
