2 Men Found Dead in Takoma Park Driveway

Police in Montgomery County are investigating a homicide-suicide that happened early Sunday morning in Takoma Park.

Someone reported the sound of gunshots in the 7300 block of Flower Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived, they found two men shot to death in a driveway.

The deceased -- 30-year-olds David Draa of Takoma Park and Steven "Kyle" Hickman of D.C. -- previously worked together and were friends, Takoma Park police said. Family members told police Hickman was trying to help Draa through personal issues, police said.

With Draa's fiancee out of town, the friends went biking Saturday, and Hickman got a flat tire and texted his wife that he would spend the night at Draa's home and get the tire fixed Sunday morning, according to police. But about 1:40 a.m. he apparently decided to go home.

Police found no evidence of an obvious argument or physical confrontation. Hickman apparently was kneeling to work on the bike when Draa shot him before kneeling over Hickman's body and shooting himself, police said.

Toxicology reports will not be available for several weeks, but investigators believe one or both men consumed alcohol, police said.
