2 Killed, 1 Hurt in 2-Vehicle Crash in Maryland

Car crossed center of road, struck tow truck

Montgomery County police said two people were killed and a man was injured when a car crossed the center of a road and collided with a tow truck.

A car driven by 26-year-old Olin Dale Soreson was traveling east on Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring, Md., when it crossed the center of the road and hit a tow truck traveling west about 12:30 p.m., police said.

The passenger in Soreson's car, a 23-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Soreson died at a Washington hospital.

The tow truck driver, 51-year-old Melesio Monterroza Cartagena, of Silver Spring, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
