Police arrested two men in the fatal shooting of a man after a funeral in Prince George's County, Maryland, for another shooting victim.

Tavone Hoes, 26, and Gregory Sam, 25 — both of Southeast D.C. — are charged with first-degree murder and related charges.

Mshairi Alkebular Jr., 24, of Southeast D.C., was shot about 1:15 p.m. Aug. 5 near Deliverance Headquarters For All People church in Suitland, Maryland. Prince George'sCounty police said he died of his injuries that night.

Video from a surveillance camera shows people spilling out of the church on Suitland Road about 1 p.m.

As police officers responded to a report of a fight, they heard gunshots.

Hoes and Sam followed Alkebular and the group of people he was with when they left the funeral, police said.

About 200 yards down Suitland Road, Hoes opened fire on a blue Toyota sedan, police said. Alkebular was critically injured.

Occupants of the Toyota returned fire, striking Hoes in the arm, police said. He walked into a hospital a short time later.

Sam, who was driving the suspect vehicle, was not injured, police said.

The homicide was the result of an on-going dispute between two groups of people who live in D.C., detectives said.

Hoes is hospitalized in D.C., where Sam also is in custody. They are awaiting extradition to Prince George's County.
