A Virginia grand jury indicted an 18-year-old woman in the death of her 6-month-old daughter last month.
Police responded to report of a baby in cardiac arrest in Winchester about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 20. Natalia Johnson was taken to Winchester Medical Center then flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital. She died Jan. 23.
Investigators said Natalia’s mother, Nija Johnson, caused the child’s death. No further details were released.
Johnson was arrested before 10 a.m. Tuesday after a Winchester grand jury indicted her on a second-degree murder charge.
