A teenager killed in southeast D.C. Wednesday morning may have been shot with his own gun while attempting to rob another man.
A man in his 20s was walking to work on Alabama Avenue near Ainger Place about 11 a.m. when an 18-year-old man with a sawed off, double barrel shotgun tried to rob him, sources told News4's Pat Collins.
During a struggle with the teen, the victim took hold of the gun and shot the suspect. The victim called police to report the shooting.
The teen, Channel Johnson, died.
It was the first of four shootings in southeast D.C. Wednesday. A man was shot in the foot in the 800 block of Southern Avenue about 1 p.m. A man was taken to a hospital after being shot at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Howard Road about 3 p.m. And a 17-year-old was shot in the 2200 block of Alabama Avenue before 5 p.m.
