15-Year-Old Dies After Being Stabbed on Metro By Another Teen: Police

A 15-year-old died Saturday after being stabbed by another teen on the Metro, D.C. police say. A 15-year-old girl has been charged with first degree murder.

Jaquar McNair, of Southeast D.C., was stabbed on an Orange Line train on Friday. He walked up to a Metro station manager and collapsed inside the Capitol South station, Metro Transit Police said.

Three Metro employees rushed to help the victim, D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said. "Hat's off to them for trying to save this kid's life," he said.

McNair was unconscious and not breathing when police arrived. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Homicide detectives were called to the scene.

Police arrested a 15-year-old girl on Friday and initially charged her with assault with intent to kill.

McNair died Saturday. The girl arrested in his stabbing now faces a first degree murder charged.

Police have not released the name of the girl.

McNair is the 10th known homicide victim age 17 or younger in D.C. this year.

A 15-year-old boy, Thomas Johnson, was shot and killed near Nationals Park on Wednesday. Someone who appears to be another young teen is the suspect in the killing, according to a suspect photo distributed by police. 

Six other young people who were 18 or 19 also have been killed.
