2 Teens, 2 Men Hurt in Southeast DC in Separate Shootings

A 15-year-old boy, a 17-year old boy and two men are hurt after they were shot Tuesday afternoon in two separate shootings in Southeast D.C.

The first shooting occurred at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, where three victims were shot in a silver car outside of the Banneker Place Apartments, near Fort Dupont Ice Arena. They are 15, 19 and 21, police said.

The second shooting, just 15 minutes away, happened on Stanton Road SE. A 17-year-old boy was shot about 4 p.m. Officials said he was concious and breathing.

In the first shooting, one passenger was shot in his leg. A second passenger was shot in the back. Both are expected to be OK. The driver, 19, has more serious injuries and is fighting for his life.

Officers found 14 shell casings and at least nine bullet holes in the car.

Robert Irving, the uncle of two of the victims, said the teen and young men are innocent.

“They hang together, and they don't bother anybody,” he said. “You know how young guys are — they listen to music and have fun.”

Police spent the afternoon collecting evidence and are asking for the public’s help in finding the shooter or shooters, police Cmdr. Durriyyah Habeebullah said.

“It's not fair, and the community should be outraged, and they should contact us with any information they may have to help us solve this case,” she said.
