14th Street Bridge Construction Nears Completion

Construction on the surface of the 14th Street Bridge will soon be wrapping up.

Renovations on the roadway connecting the District and northern Virginia started back in 2009.  DDOT says all the work will translate into a much better traffic flow on the bridge.

This will be the last weekend of work on the northbound lanes.  Crews will also spend the weekend striping lanes. Work will start at 9 p.m. Friday night and they plan to be done by 5 a.m. on Monday. When it's complete, the lanes and shoulders will be restored to their original configuration.

Though this will mark the end of the surface work, construction continues on the underside of the bridge. Because of that, commuters could still see some temporary lane closures in the coming weeks.
