$144M Powerball Ticket Sold in DC

Now you know why you're hearing from long-lost cousins

If you're starting to hear from second cousins twice removed and your crazy Uncle Walter who is in tax trouble, we now know why.

A $144 million Powerball ticket was sold in the District. And until the winner of Wednesday night's drawing comes forward, everyone's a suspect.

The winning ticket, which has a cash option of a cool $76.6 million, was purchased at the Giant grocery store on Alabama Avenue in Southeast.

So if you bought a ticket there, check it carefully. The winning numbers are 1-6-48-52-56 + 9.

Even if you didn't win the $144 million, you may have won $10,000. That ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven on South Capitol Street in Southwest.

The ticket holders have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

The D.C. Lottery’s Claim Center is located in the Frank D. Reeves Building at 2000 14th Street, NW, Lobby Level. It's open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
