12-Year-Old Boy Shot During Fight in Woodbridge

    A 12-year-old boy was injured in a shooting during an argument Sunday evening in Woodbridge.

    The victim, a Woodbridge resident, was playing with several friends in the 4900 block of Kirwyn Court when he got into in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance, Prince William County Police said.

    As the altercation escalated, a large fight broke out. Someone riding in a SUV fired several rounds into the crowd, striking the 12-year-old in the arm and lower body, police said. The SUV then left the scene.

    Officers responded shortly before 7:30 p.m.

    The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

    Detectives said the shooting was not random. The investigation is ongoing.
