12-Ounce Nuts Removed…from Shelves

Salmonella is the FDA’s favorite word again, and this time California nuts sold in local grocery stores are the target.

Local Harris Teeter grocery chains have recalled its store brand pistachios because of a new salmonella scare that seems to be spreading across the nation.

Harris Teeter is removing all natural, roasted and salted pistachios. The recall applies to all dates of the Harris Teeter-brand pistachios sold in 12-ounce bags.

The ongoing investigation into tainted nuts at a California facility prompted the recall.

The FDA requested that Setton Pistachio recall its entire 2008 crop after investigators found salmonella at its California plant.
