Today's Animal of the Day: Green Tree Python
Why we love the display: Snakes get a bad rap, but the python's emerald green skin is mesmerising in person, and even more so in lights.
Habitat: These pythons are found in New Guinea, Indonesia and Australia.
At the Zoo: Pythons and other snakes can be found in the Reptile Discovery Center of the Smithsonian's National Zoo.
Bet you didn’t know... Pythons have limbs on both sides of their bodies called "spurs." Spurs on male pythons are typically larger than spurs on females and are integrated into courtship rituals.
