The dog, named Buddy, fell through the ice covering a pond.

Rescue workers pulled a 100-pound Doberman Pinscher from an ice-covered pond Wednesday morning after the dog fell through thin ice.

The dog, named Buddy, was about 15 feet from shore in a pond in the 11100 block of Mattoponi Road in Prince George's County.

Buddy was cold but OK, said the Prince George's County Fire Department. He has been returned to his owners.

Officials reminded the public that any ice covering any body of water should be considered "thin ice" and extremely dangerous.
