A 15-year-old boy is dead and four teenagers are injured after their car careened off the road in Lorton, Virginia and hit a tree.
A 14-year-old boy, who did not have a license, was driving a Nissan Maxima southbound on Lorton Road Friday morning. He lost control of the vehicle and it left the road, police said.
The car struck a tree, flipped over and landed on the driver's side door, according to police.
Officers responded to Furnace Road near Lorton and Dairy roads shortly before 11:30 a.m. for the report of a single-car crash.
A 15-year-old boy died from his injuries, police say.
Police originally said the 14-year-old driver died, but later corrected their statement.
The driver was treated for injuries that were not life threatening and released from the hospital, police said.

Three other 15-year-old boys were injured and hospitalized with not life threatening injuries. One has been released from the hospital.
All five of the teens are from Prince William County, police said.
A crash reconstruction unit was called to the scene in the 10100 block of Furnace Road, police said.
Detectives said they believe speed was a factor in the crash. Police are still investigating the crash and say they will consult the Commonwealth Attorney's Office about potential charges.
Police cannot identify the teens involved because they are juveniles.
