Repairs to Cooling Systems Delayed at Metro's Dupont Circle, Farragut North Stations

Some bad news if you were hoping for cool air at a couple of very busy Metro stations

A permanent fix to the Dupont Circle and Farragut North Metro stations' cooling systems has been delayed.

Metro said while trying to fix the pipes that supply cool air, which are buried under Connecticut Avenue, crews hit a lamp post in the path.

That lamp post was not reflected in engineering drawings.

Metro got permission from D.C. to move the lamp post and hopes to restore chilled air to the stations sometime next month.

In the meantime, temperatures inside those stations can routinely stay in the 90-degree range.

Metro said it couldn’t set up a temporary cooling system because it would have actually covered part of the area that needed to be fixed, further delaying the permanent fix.
