Cuccinelli: Teachers Can Search Students' Phones

Virginia's attorney general says teachers can confiscate students' cell phone and look through stored messages if the teacher has reasonable suspicion that the student is breaking the law or school rules, WTOP reported.

Ken Cuccinelli issued the legal opinion as Virginia lawmakers try to fight cyberbullying

Cuccinelli also says if a teacher finds sexually explicit images on the phone, the teacher should be extra careful and hand the phone over to police.

Showing the pictures to others could result in child pornography charges against the teacher, WTOP reported.
