Virginia Sees Increase in Flu Rates

With winter here, it appears flu season has arrived as well.

The Virginia Department of Health is reporting that reports of flu-like illness has risen from sporadic activity a couple weeks ago to regional activity, The Daily Progress reported.

With this new report, health officials are encouraging Virginians to get vaccinated.

This year's flu vaccine is available at local health departments, doctors' offices and many pharmacies.

This year's flu shot protects against the Influenza B, 2009 H1N1 and A H3N2 strains.
