Local Teen's Dog Is a Life Saver

For one local teen, his dog is not just his best friend, she's a life saver.

Reba, a yellow lab, is a diabetes dog. She's trained to sniff out low blood sugar.

Her owner, 14-year-old Sam Rosenfeld, has Type 1 diabetes. If he forgets to test or his sugars suddenly drop, Reba will alert Sam or his mother by getting excited and jumping around.

"She'll be just sitting by my foot and the next her head will be on my lap and she'll keep on nudging me and even jump on me," Sam said. "By that Point, I'm like, OK I'll test, and most of the time she's right."
