For the first time ever, doctors in Sierra Leone will have access to some medical equipment that will help them save lives.
A few days ago, volunteers with Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone packed a truckload of instruments and other items bound for Freetown.
The donations include beds, wheelchairs and first aid supplies.
The machines were donated by Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.
Bobby Smith, the founder and president of the charity, said he hopes the equipment will arrive by next month.
Smith also hopes he can be in Sierra Leone and help disburse the equipment when it arrives.
Private donations help fund the cost of shipping.
