Kids With Gay Parents “About the Same”

Sociologists agree same-sex parents don't have ill-affect on kids

At least 4 million U.S. children have one or both parents who identify themselves as homosexual, according to Gary Gates of the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.

Yet, the Chicago Tribune reports that, along with abortion, nontraditional families remains one of the most divisive issues of our time.

Beyond the politics and religion behind much of the controversey, the Tribune reports that sociologists find that children of gay parents are no more likely to suffer from psychological problems that children from traditional families.

"There was a very strong consensus that kids turned out about the same," said sociologist Judith Stacey.
