Free Health Clinic Coming to D.C.

Hundreds expected at Washington Convention Center

The historic health care reform bill is expected to extend medical coverage to millions of Americans, but many people will still struggle to get the proper care they need.

In an effort to help the cause, the National Association of Free Clinics will provide a free health clinic Wednesday at the Washington Convention Center. More than 1,200 residents from D.C., Maryland and Virginia are expected to take advantage of the clinic, which will provide medical care and free screenings for cancer, HIV, high blood pressure, and other health issues.

Some 800 doctors, nurses and medical support staff are volunteering their services for the free clinic.
