Earth Day Fest '09: Dance to The Flaming Lips and moe.

Fawn over Matthew Modine, Howard U. Drummers

What are you still sitting at home for?

You've still got a few minutes before The Flaming Lips take the stage at the Earth Day Festival and Concert  today at the National Mall.

Chevy Chase -- yes, "Fletch" himself -- will emcee.  Actor Matthew Modine and filmmaker Phillipe Cousteau, grandson of explorer and scientist Jacques-Yves Cousteau, will also be on hand as bands like moe. and Los Lobos rock DC.

The Joy of Motion Dance Center's teen hip hop company, Urban Impact, DJ Spooky and the Howard University Drummers will also perform.

All this from Earth Day Network and Green Apple Festival, which has been coordinating eco-activities like building homes with Habitat for Humanity, cleaning up the polluted Anacostia River and planting trees for volunteers this weekend in D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

So put down that mouse and get out the door!  The festivities run until 6 p.m.
