Some Retailers Open Round the Clock for the Holidays

    Waiting Until the Last Minute

If you still need to finish your holiday shopping (or if you haven't even started yet), all is not lost. News4's Seth Lemon explains. (Published Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012)

For procrastinators - or nocturnal Santa's helpers - or those who just haven't managed to finish up their holiday shopping, several retailers are staying open through the night in the final days before Christmas.

Beginning Friday, Dec. 21 at 7 a.m. through Sunday, Dec. 23 at 7 a.m., 57 Macy's stores will remain open 24 hours or with extended late hours, until close on Christmas Eve. In our area, the Macy's at Tyson's Corner Center in McLean, Va. will be among those staying open around the clock.

Toys R Us stores nationwide will keep their doors open for 88 consecutive hours of shopping beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec.21 through 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

And Target is offering extended hours at all of its stores Sunday and Monday. Store hours are:

    • Sunday, Dec. 23: 8 a.m. to midnight
    • Christmas Eve: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, 24-hour Wal Mart stores will be open as usual - until 8 p.m.Christmas Eve, that is, when all stores will close.
