Guess he wasn't that serious, after all.
Vice-President Joe Biden hopped an Amtrak from Washington, D.C. to Delaware Friday night, just a day after he said he wouldn't travel on mass transit because of the swine flu epidemic.
Biden jumped on a late-night train from Union Station to his Delaware home after spending the week in Washington, his office said.
He told the "Today" show Thursday that he wouldn't travel in tight quarters thanks to the swine flu, causing a wave of paranoia among the American public that prompted the Obama administration to issue several rapid-fire revisions to his statement.
"I wouldn't go anywhere in confined spaces now," said Biden, who also warned his family members to avoid airplanes and subways. Biden's office issued a statement attempting to clarify the vice president's remarks a couple hours later.
Meanwhile, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano issued her own retraction to Biden's gaffe.
"If he could say that over again, he would say if they're feeling sick, they should stay off public transit or confined spaces," Napolitano said.
