Natalie Cole Fans Offer Singer Their Kidneys

Natalie Cole is desperate for a kidney -- and dozens of fans are willing to go under the knife for her.

Moments after the 59-year-old singer revealed that both her kidneys had failed and that she will likely be on dialysis for the rest of her life during an interview with Larry King last night, the CNN talk show was inundated with phone calls from fans eager to donate their organs to the crooner.

"There are some great human beings out there," Cole said, shaking her head. "That's all I can say."

Cole told King that she was on a long list of patients awaiting an organ donor after she was diagnosed with hepatitis C last year. The singer contracted the illness during her addiction to drugs in the 80s.

Several minutes into the interview, the talk show was flooded with emails and phone calls from fans who were willing to donate their organs to the Grammy Award-winner.

"These are all e-mails from dozens -- dozens! -- of people offering to be tested to see if they can match, who want to give you a kidney," King told Cole as he picked up a pile of printed out messages.

The daughter of Nat King Cole went through chemotherapy but four months after treatment her kidneys failed, the Times UK reported.

Now, she is hooked up to a dialysis machine three times a week for three hours at a time.
