Suspect in Hudson Murders Pleads Not Guilty

The man accused of killing three members of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson's family has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and home invasion.

William Balfour entered his plea Tuesday at Cook County Criminal Court after nodding to members of his family gathered in the courtroom.

Balfour is the estranged husband of Jennifer Hudson's sister, Julia Hudson. He's charged in the deaths of the sisters' mother, Darnell Donerson, their brother, Jason Hudson, and Julia Hudson's 7-year-old son, Julian King.

Balfour is being held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 27.

His attorney, Joshua Kutnick, says he plans to ask that Balfour be moved from a state prison to Cook County Jail to make it easier to consult with him.
