Want to see gorgeous cherry blossoms without dealing with crowds? Head to the Kenwood neighborhood in Chevy Chase, Maryland where 1,200 Yoshino cherry trees — the same kind that decorate the Tidal Basin — are in spectacular peak bloom.
The cherry trees that line the million-dollar homes in Kenwood were planted in the 1920s by developers who wanted to draw people out of the city into what was then considered the far-out suburbs of D.C. The advertising ploy has blossomed into a fairytale setting for residents and tourists, who enjoy a great view without the stress of crowds every year.
