Nestled near Madison County, Virginia, is Shenandoah's most popular -- and most difficult -- destination for hiking: Old Rag Trail.
Along the 9.1-mile trek to the mountain's 2,415-foot summit is an intense rock scramble that requires not only athleticism but confidence.
I hiked Old Rag Trail in Oct. 2017, and learned a lot about proper techniques for hiking — and myself.
