Whole Foods Setting Up Near UMD

Plans to build a Whole Foods grocery store near the University of Maryland are a "go."

The organic grocery store would be built along Route 1, between Albion Road and East-West Highway. That's less than two miles from campus.

Opponents of the project are worried about the increased traffic it would bring to the Riverdale, Md., area, according to the Diamondbackonline.com.

The Whole Foods is part of a larger development plan that would include other stores, a fitness center and a residential area.

Construction is set to begin next year. It is set to open in 2014.
