Wale Wails; Baltimore Takes Action

D.C. Rapper's Profanity-laced performance triggers contract review

Charm City is upset with rapper Wale and his dirty mouth.

The D.C. native and hip-hop star used profanity and racial slurs during a performance at “Artscape,” a free, city-sponsored event, WBAL reported. Wale was the headliner Sunday.

Baltimore officials are reviewing their contract with the rapper to see if there was some sort of miscommunication about the family-friendly nature of the event.

Officials said they were deeply disturbed by the language he used.

It’s not clear if they can take any legal action against him.

In the meantime, the city’s Office of Promotion and Arts has apologized to anyone who was offended by his performance.

Wale is the same rapper who reportedly abruptly canceled a performance at a gay pride event in D.C. earlier this year but then appeared at the event.
