Del Toro Joins Bogdanovich on Va. Film Fest Lineup

23rd Annual Film Festival to Host Prolific Filmmakers

The Virginia Film Festival just added another familiar name to their annual event: Writer-director Guillermo del Toro is scheduled to appear at the Charlottesville event.

Festival officials announced this year's program on Tuesday, the Daily Progress reported.

"Hellboy" and "Hellboy 2" director del Toro earned a Best Writing Academy Award nomination for 2006's "Pan's Labyrinth." The festival lineup also includes actor-filmmaker Josh Radnor and Vince Gilligan, creator of "Breaking Bad."

Officials previously announced that writer and actor Peter Bogdanovich would be this year’s Festival Fellow. He will screen two of his films, "The Last Picture Show" and "Paper Moon." Bogdanovich will also take part in a question-and-answer session with film critic David Edelstein Nov. 6.

The festival will showcase 100 films between Nov. 4 and 7.
