V-Day 411: On the Stage

It's all here, from the tragic to the sweet to the utterly humiliating

"THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW": We're hooked on the Midnight Madness series the Landmark E Street Cinema (555 11th St. N.W.), and how creepily sexy that they chose "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" for such a wuv-filled weekend. What better way to ring in Valentine’s Day than a midnight a tale of scantily clad dancers, a newly engaged couple, and a cult film you’ll never forget. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12 and 13, midnight 12; $10.

"I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE": From the good, to the bad, to the ugly -- to the oh-so-very ugly -- relationships see it all. "I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change" is a comedic musical that celebrates all the ups and downs of love. Arts Barn (311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, Md.) is running the show through Feb. 21, but it sounds great for a Valentine’s Day date for those who want to take a laugh at the things we do for love. Through Feb. 21; $18; 2 and 8 p.m.

BIG-SCREEN ROMANCE: It's chick flicks galore at AFI Silver Theater (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring) for Valentine’s Day weekend. They’ll be featuring films fit for the holiday, ranging from romantic comedies to classic romances -- think "When Harry Met Sally" and "Roman Holiday." Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14; $10.

"ROMEO AND JULIET": American University puts a new twist on the quintesstial tale of star-crossed lovers as the victims of self-absorbed adults. Actually, that sort of sounds like the old version, but we're willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. It's at Greenberg TheaterThursday-Saturday, Feb. 11-13; 2 and 8 p.m.; $15.

"ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE":
The originals had girls weak at the knees -- let’s see if the performers at Jammin' Java (227 E. Maple Ave., Falls Church, Va.) can do the same with renditions of The Beatles' love songs. This sweet café holds an "All You Need is Love" Songwriters Circle; artists perform covers of the classics and some originals, too. Sunday, Feb. 14; 7 p.m.; $10 in advance or $13 door.

"SUCKER FOR LOVE": Chief Ike's Mambo Room (1725 Columbia Road N.W.) hosting a performance about being a sucker for love... you know you've been there. Storytellers share takes about being in love... and sometimes falling out of it. 7 p.m.; $18.
