U Street Music Hall Opens Tonight

Say, do you like music? Wow, us too!

Forget about green beer, plastic beads and warbling bagpipes. Forget about dress codes and table service.

Expect no frills, just music. And a 60-foot dance floor. Oh, and a DJ booth so massive you could probably live in it.

Yeah, that's all.

Tonight at 10 p.m., U Street Music Hall (1115 U St. N.W.) throws open its doors for a sold-out grand-opening party featuring Aeroplane with Beautiful Swimmers. The club will be DJ-driven; five out of six owners are DJs themselves -- DJs Will Eastman and Jesse Tittsworth, according to DCist.

Reports We Love D.C.:

Their plan for the Music Hall is to feature local, national and international talent in the form of bands and guest DJs on weeknights and to turn the DJ booth over to local D.C. mix-masters for weekend residencies. Jesse Tittsworth told me that he "loves the idea of having our city and our friends hold down Fridays and Saturdays... it speaks volumes for the talent in our city and in our scenes."

Cover prices will be reasonable, usually around $10-$12. Word from DCist says drinks will range for $4 beers (Natty Boh and Miller High Life, so you know they're keepin' it real) to $6-$10 for mixed drinks.

As we mentioned above, tonight's event is sold out, but Brightest Young Things hosts an album release party tomorrow. Check out the rest of the weekend's schedule here.
