Legendary pub the Tune Inn will be closed for the remainder of the summer as it rebuilds from a June 22 fire, but a local group has organized to offer support for its staff. DCist reports that Friends of Tune Inn, which comprises Capitol Hill residents and businesses, will host a fundraiser on July 15 at the American Legion Post 8 at 224 D Street SE.
Organizers hope to raise $50,000 for the bar's staff, which will be without income while Tune Inn rebuilds its kitchen. (They won't be covered by the bar's insurance policy, apparently.) The benefit will feature food, live music, raffles for prizes from Capitol Hill businesses and Tune Inn memorabilia. It will run from 3 to 10 p.m on the 15th.
